2020/2021 Branch ZOOM Meetings – Save the Dates!

Your wellbeing and safety are our AAUW Colorado Springs branch’s top priority.  Because of the risks of COVID-19, we will only meet virtually until further notice. This includes branch meetings, Interest Groups, committees, and board meetings.
September 18 at 5:30 PM via Zoom, grab your favorite beverage and enjoy a Happy Hour!
September 19, 9:30 am to noon via Zoom – Welcome Coffee
Grab your coffee and join us! We will meet all eight of our 2020 scholarship recipients! The 2020-2021 AAUW Colorado Springs Board of Directors will be introduced.  A ZOOM link will be emailed to you.
October 24th 10:00 am to noon via Zoom – Community Outreach program
Our Community Outreach Committee has secured Katherine Sturdevant, history professor at Pikes Peak Community College, to speak to us on the History of Women’s Right to Vote in Colorado.  The program will be open to the public and recorded for future viewing.  Registration is required. Free to members and $10 for guests.

November 14, 10:00 am 11:30 am via Zoom – Panel Discussion: Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA)
A DACA lawyer and two people with DACA status will speak to us.  The program will be available ONLY to AAUW members and NOT recorded.
December 19, 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm via Zoom – Holiday Sing Along and Happy Hour
Our own Fran Pilch will play holiday sing along music on her piano for our enjoyment and participation. Grab your favorite beverage and join us for a festive evening.  A minimum scholarship donation of $10 is required for you to participate in this program and receive the Zoom link. January 16 (2021) 5:00 PM – Zoom HAPPY HOUR – NEW YEAR CELEBRATION
Our AAUW COS Branch Vice Presidents of Programs invite members to join this Happy Hour celebration of the new year and to share your 2020 experiences and hopes and dreams for 2021. This program is for members only and will be recorded.

February 20 (2021) 10 am – 12 noon – Public Policy program
The public policy committee is excited to announce Rev. Dr. Stephany Rose Spaulding as our speaker for the February 20, 2021 Branch meeting.  She is pastor of Ebenezer Baptist Church in Colorado Springs, associate professor of Women’s and Ethnic Studies at the University of Colorado, Colorado Springs (UCCS) and former U.S. Senate candidate for the state of Colorado.  She is the author of Recovering from Racism: A Guidebook to Beginning Conversations (2015).

Saturday, March 6, 2021 10:00 am – 12:00 pm via Zoom International Women’s Day
This year organized around the theme Generation Equality: Realizing Women’s Rights for an Equal Future, we’ll hear from speakers, both national and local, addressing generational perspectives ranging from women’s movement pioneers through millennials and Gen Z. Registration information is in the article below and the cost is $15.  Join us. Celebrate all that women have accomplished, while focusing on the challenges that remain!

Two Colorado authors will be featured: Pam Houston, author of Cowboys Are My Weakness and the new nonfiction book Deep Creek: Finding Hope in the High Country, and Jeri Norgren, author of Colorado’s Highest: The History of Naming the 14,000-Foot Peaks.
