Mary Taylor Young

  • Mary Taylor Young has been writing about the landscape and heritage of Colorado for 30 years. Her 17 books include Rocky Mountain National Park: the First 100 Years and Land of Grass and Sky: a Naturalist’s Prairie Journey. Her Words On Birds column appeared in the Rocky Mountain News for 16 years. In 2012 Mary was Artist-in-Residence at Rocky Mountain National Park. In 2016, she was the commencement speaker for Colorado State University, College of Natural Sciences. the Friends of the Pikes Peak Library District named Mary the 2018 Frank Waters Award honoree for exemplary literary achievement and a canon of writing that communicates a deep understanding of the west.   • J.D.R. Hawkins

  • J.D.R. Hawkins is an award winning author who has written for newspapers, magazines, newsletters, e-zines, and blogs. She is one of only a few female Civil War authors and uniquely describes the front lines from a Confederate perspective. Her Renegade series includes A Beautiful Glittering Lie, winner of the John Esten Cooke Fiction Award and the B.R.A.G. Medallion, A Beckoning Hellfire, which is also an award winner, and A Rebel Among Us, recipient of the 2017 John Esten Cooke Fiction Award. These books tell the story of a family from north Alabama who experience immeasurable pain when their lives are dramatically changed by the war. She is currently working on another sequel for the Renegade Series. She has also written a non-fiction book, Horses in Gray: Famous Confederate Warhorses. She is also an artist, and singer/songwriter. More at: http://jdrhawkins.com

  • Cindy Skaggs grew up on stories of mob bosses, horse thieves, cold-blooded killers and the last honest man. Those mostly true stories gave her a life-long love of storytelling that enables her writing addiction. She is the author of seven published romantic suspense novels, including : Untouchable, An Untouchable Christmas, Unforgettable, Unstoppable and the Team Fear series: Live By the Team, Fight By the Team, and Survive By the Team. Cindy also plays the flute, makes crazy-good sculptures out of tortilla dough, and can wrangle the neurotic dog without getting mauled. Authors Day is the major fundraiser for scholarships that will be awarded in May, 2019. In addition to the presentations by these wonderful authors , we will enjoy a delicious catered breakfast.
